Virtual reality is not just about gaming

Oculus Rift has been described as the first truly immersive virtual reality headset for video games, creating a direct link between gaming and VR. Many different virtual reality related startups and research projects started and showed us, the potential of VR goes far beyond just video games.
From healthcare to financial services over to manufacturing, these may be industries that will be improved by virtual reality, according to Erik Heinrich’s article Virtual reality: It’s not just for games.

The experience is not just fun and entertaining, allowing people to visit place they’ve never been, or that do not even exist. Virtual reality tricks your mind and distracts you from what happens around you, very useful for distracting the brain from unpleasant medical treatments. But it can also be used to show results of certain behaviors, bringing people to understand poverty and other situations, to change the initial behavior.
