Game Day from MAN Sports: Review

Game day from MAN sports has been reformulated and the look has been changed. I haven’t covered the old version of Game Day here on and I won’t be doing that either since we now have a new version. The new and reformulated version of Game Day will be the focus of this review.

The last post was another review of a PWO from MAN Sports – namely Pump. A part of the verdict on that very supplement is that it is suitable for stacking, and the potential candidate could very well be Game Day. With this short introduction, let’s move on to take a closer look at this new pre workout from MAN sports. Before I get to the supplement facts, let’s first see what MAN Sports has to say about their new pre-workout. Here goes:

Eighteen+ months of lab work, research, sourcing of raw materials, formulation, & beta-testing… then, finally… Perfection. One dose Hits Harder, Works Faster, Performs Longer, and Mixes Better than we could’ve hoped for.

Game Day’s stimulants unlock brain pathways that you’ve never felt. The Energy begins compounding within minutes of your first sip. With only a moderate-hit of caffeine (300mg), the blended stimulants collectively deliver the strongest energy you’ve ever felt.ALL THE GOOD, WITH NONE OF THE BAD.Sometimes it’s not just about what’s in the product, but

ALL THE GOOD, WITH NONE OF THE BAD.Sometimes it’s not just about what’s in the product, but also what’s not on the in the product:

•No Artificial Colors or Dyes

•No Beta-Alanine Tingles

•No Water Bloat Causing Creatine

SUGGESTED USE: As a dietary supplement, take 1 serving (1 scoop) with 8oz of cold water 30–45 minutes prior to training. To avoid sleeplessness, do not take within 6 hours of sleep. Contents may settle after shipping. Shake container prior to each use. Store in a cool, dry place. DO NOT EXCEED 2 SERVINGS IN ANY 24 HOUR PERIOD OR USE MORE THAN 5 DAYS IN ANY 7 DAY PERIOD.

Taste Matters at MAN SportsWe didn’t invent flavoring systems.. we just perfected them. Here at MAN Sports flavor is everything. It’s has nothing to do with science or efficacy – but it’s important to enjoy what you spent your hard earned money on.

Clean & ClearGame Day contains no artificial colors or dyes, almost mixes completely clear in water! This is something you want to sip all day!It takes longer.

It takes more labor. It’s tedious and precise. Making micro-batches is not easy, but its the only way we know how to provide the premium quality in every bottle we demand. We take pride in our work…DO IT RIGHT – OR DON’T DO IT ALL.

As always the manufacture’s description sounds good. Let’s take a closer look at the supplement facts, to get a better idea of what Game Day can do for you.

Glycerol Monostearate

Glycerol is a pump amplifier which seemingly won’t give you as much of a pump as say NO, but the pump you do get will be longer lasting, due to water retention. A side benefit from glycerol is a proven prevention of post-workout dehydration.

GlycoCarn® (Glycine Propionyl-L-Carnitine HCL)

GlycoCarn® (Glycine Propionyl-L-Carnitine) is a highly bioavailable form of Carnitine. Carnitine is an amino acid that plays a crucial role in muscle function by regulating energy flow across cell membranes during exercise. GlycoCarn, particularly when combined with exercise, has been shown to increase nitric oxide (NO), which we all know and love.

PF5 (Serum Protein Concentrate)

We have seen serum protein from MAN sports before, although back then it was listed as PF3, so I take it as this is an optimized serum protein. There is no information to be found on this, besides from what MAN sports has to say, so without further ado;

THE FIRST (SPI) FUNCTIONAL PROTEINPURE PF3™ is a concentrated functional protein developed for super potency requiring substantially less to achieve what standard proteins render. One scoop of Pure PF3 is equivalent to 25 Scoops of Whey Protein. Serum Protein Isolate is the strongest isolate protein in the world.

Faster Gains

Better Recovery

Promote Strength

Support Lean Muscle

25x Stronger Than Whey Isolate

Taking a concentrated dose of functional value yielding peptide protein fractions and growth factors blows away the results of low grade whey protein alone, any day of the week.

If you’re one of the millions of people that drinks a protein shake and experiences stomach bloat, belching, muscle soreness days after a workout, and your gaining fat from the surplus of empty calories you’re ingesting – then you are absolutely drinking the low grade, useless mass produced protein that we’re preaching about.

Clearly, you deserve better. You deserve a protein with high Functional Value that will reward you for your hard efforts in the gym.

When It Comes To Protein…Size Matters”High-molecular weight protein” refers to the weight of the protein molecule. Generally, the higher the molecular weight, the greater the complexity of the protein and the slower the protein digests. The Immunoglobulin G protein (IgG) found in Serum Protein Isolate is over fifteen times stronger than whey protein isolate, offering the highest level of strength and molecular weight of any protein source ever developed

I have mentioned this substance here on several times before, as it’s becoming quite a common contender on the supplement facts on pre-workout supplements. L-Norvaline is an analog of the branched chain amino acid, valine. It can be found in foods such as dairy, meat, grains, soy and peanuts. Since valine is an essential amino acid, L-Norvaline has to be obtained through your diet or via supplements, as the body cannot produce it. With that being said, what is the specific reason for the inclusion in the nitric oxide and endurance explosion matrix? The short version is that L-Norvaline indirectly promotes NO production. The reason for this is that L-norvaline is an inhibitor of the enzyme arginase and arginase is responsible for the breakdown of Arginine in the body. As Arginine is converted to NO, preventing it’s breakdown equals more available NO.

This stuff was also used in the former NooPump pre-workout from MAN. Rutaecarpine is an alkaloid found in certain herbs including Evodia rutaecarpa, a well-known Chinese herb called Wu-Chu-Yu. Herbal formulations based on Wu-Chu-Yu have been widely used in China for centuries. Rutaecarpine is an indolopyridoquinazolinone alkaloid isolated from Evodia rutaecarpa and related herbs, which has blood thinning, anticancer, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, anti-obesity and thermoregulatory, vasorelaxing activity.

In new pre-workout supplements we tend to see N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine used instead of just L-Tyrosine (hyped as having a better absorption), but L-Tyrosine is still a solid, tested and proven substance that I welcome in my pre-workout supplements.

I have posted about L-Tyrosine several times before here on L-Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid which produces noradrenaline and dopamine. There are several studies documenting the effects from L-Tyrosine, which include stress relief, cognitive enhancement, fat burning, mood improvement. It’s a typical substance in pre-workout supplements, due to the above-listed benefits

Caffeine Anhydrous

The good old caffeine and at a decent dosage. We all know what this stuff does, but just in case you have been you have been living under a rock, here is the short version: It will give you a physical and mental energy boost. 300 mg might be a bit too much for some people. The typical dosage tends to be closer to 200 mg and that is my personal sweet spot. 300 mg will typically make me jittery, but it depends on how much coffee I had beforehand. Either way, 300 mg will definitely get you going!

This is done in different ways, for one by boosting the effects of serotonin, acetylcholine and dopamine. It also blocks adenosine receptors and increase the release of catecholamines. All in all this allows your body to send more blood to your muscles, release sugar for energy and make your heart beat faster.

Cymbidium Goeringii Extract

There is really not a lot of information on this stuff. We do know that Cymbidium goeringii is an orchid found in Himalayan regions and in temperate locations including China, Taiwan and South Korea. But when it comes to the effects from this, we are pretty much left with guesses, assumptions and manufacture claims. A member over at posted the following in their forum:

Not much reading out there on this compound but seems to be quite the stimulant…again with limited reading out there supposedly 3x as powerful as DMAA. Seen a few pre’s not sold here reformulated with this stuff

There is however, no clarifying answer to his question. This substance is also used in Cannibal Ferox and I assume that is where the above-listed belief comes from. Here is what Chaos and Pain has to say about the substance:

featuring the most brutal stimulant legally on the market, OrchileanTM (Cymbidium Goeringii Extract), which has extreme DMAA-like qualities and will raise pulses like a hatchet attack in a crowded elevator.

This stuff is new in the supplement space and claimed to be the new true DMAA alternative. We have heard this story a couple of times recently; namely with AMP Citrate (DMBA) and Eria Jarensis extract (N-Phenethyl Dimethylamine). 2-amino-6-methylheptane is the next substance in line, hyped to be similar to DMAA in structure and effect. It is also listed as DMHA, 2-aminoisoheptane and Octodrine. If the claims are true, then this stuff is likely to give you very potent energy boost, but that might also be a reason for caution. The guys over at stack3d said the following in their post on Game Day:here is a very detailed post on this new substance over at

The interesting part about that list is of course the inclusion of DMHA, a stimulant that we found out first hand can deliver a level of focus like nothing else on the market.

here is a very detailed post on this new substance over at PricePlow which you can read here.

Lean Green™ Green Tea SE (90% catchins, 60% EGCG)

Green tea contains less caffeine (15mg) than coffee (150mg) but it contains powerful antioxidants. While not everyone will feel a “kick” from green tea, studies have repeatedly shown that green tea before a workout improves your performance. It also helps you lose the fat.

Cocoa Plant (extract)

Cocoa plant contains phenylethylamine and serotonin, which help to improve moods. Flavonols contained in cocoa have also been shown to enhance cognitive functions, especially during mental persistent mental exertion.

Yohimbine HCI

Yohimbine HCl is an alpha-2 receptor antagonist. Basically, it inhibits the receptor responsible for blocking lipolysis and is because of this, it is a very common substance in fat burners. It is, however, also often used in pre-workout supplements, as it is believed that yohimbine may increase neurotransmitters adrenaline and noradrenaline that is likely to boost your workout session through improved focus and performance output.

Verdict on Game Day from MAN Sports

When PUMP was released I was a bit dissapointed to be honest, but seeing now, that it is meant to be stacked, and potentially with Game Day, this looks like very potent Pre-workout bomb! Both when it comes to focus, energy and pumps. Game Day will clearly be a very solid stand-alone pre-workout, specially from an energy perspective, but combined with PUMP, would make it a great all around PWO. On the downside is the use of prop. blends and the novel but less studies substances that are likely to work, but may be harmful.
