ErgoBlast is a PWO supplement by ErgoGenix. It was released in May 2014. It is a new product and is not a revamp of a previous formulation.
Reading the label is like watching a trailer for a Micheal Bay movie – explosions and exclamation marks everywhere! It promises to give you tunnel vision focus, to give you MARATHON (all caps) performance, and take your workouts beyond the next level.
Reading this is like someone shouting in your face! It’s nice that the label mentions that this is a jitter-free energy powder – I assume the guy writing the label was on a different product at the time?
Anyway, what we want to know is does it live up to the hype? Let’s see.
Ergoblast does use a prop. blend alongside some more conventional ingredients. The blend lists the ingredients, but not how much. So for some of the ingredients I will be able to tell you the quantity, and for others we’ll have to guess.
A serving is 5g. Here’s what you get in those 5g.
* Vitamin B6 (in Pyridoxine Hydrochloride form) 20mg
* Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin) 60 mcg
* Zinc 10 mg
* Sodium 24 mg
* Creatine HCL (Con-Cret®) 1,000 mg
* Agmatine Sulfate (AgmaMax®) 500 mg
And here’s the prop. blend (ErgoStim):
* N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine
* Caffeine Anhydrous
* Mucuna Pruriens Extract (L-Dopa)
* N-Methyltyramine Hydrochloride
* Higenamine Hydrochloride
* Guarana Seed Extract
* Ubidecarenone (Co-Q10)
At first glance, this looked like a shopping list for a meth lab! But after a few quick searches, I found there was nothing to worry about.
Con-Cret is the “patented” name for Creatine hydrochloride. This is a supercharged version of our old friend, regular creatine. In this form, the body can absorb it much more easily. In the lab, the boys in white coats have proved it dissolves 79 times more effectively in water.
This is another “patented” name, this time for Agmatine Sulfate. Agmatine has been around for a while. It’s used to treat blood pressure and to make pain meds more effective. In itself, it does not stimulate muscle mass. What it does is improve the communication between nerves and muscles, making them more responsive and allowing you to work out harder. It’s also effective in stimulating testosterone. In its sulfate form, it also boosts Nitric Oxide (NO) in order to increase blood flow and pump.
Mucuna Pruriens Extract
This is an extract from an African flower. It contains L-DOPA, which is a precursor for dopamine. For this reason its getting a lot of attention in the supplement world as well as in the medical community. It’s been used in traditional medicine for centuries, so I think we can consider it to be safe.
Theobromine is a substance found in a number of natural substances, including cocoa. It’s similar to caffeine, although it is weaker. It has a stronger effect on the heart, though. It boosts endurance and supports recovery. Scientists now think that it is responsible for the aphrodisiac effects of chocolate, which is nice. Like caffeine, it’s possible to OD on theobromine, especially for the elderly. So remember to keep the ErgoBlast away from granny!
In nature, this is found in citrus fruits and barley. It has adrenalin-like effects. It also decreases blood sugar, and increases insulin and blood pressure. Some people are hailing it as a safer DMAA alternative.
Higenamine HCL is a substance that is found in many different plants. It’s a stimulant and a fat burner. It targets different muscles differently – some slow down their contractions, and others speed up. This has benefits for larger muscles, making them work harder during your workout. It also increases heart rate and has a thermogenic effect.
Huperzine comes from Chinese moss. It is used to increase alertness, focus and energy. As well as being useful to bodybuilders, it helps to boost memory. It’s also effective in Alzheimer meds.

The ratings are good – on bodybuilding.com the score is 8.9/10. This is after 110 reviews.
Customers all agree that it provides great energy and focus, without jitters. The word that kept coming up was “clean”. When looking through the reviews I found one case of side effects from a guy who had experienced similar effects from every PWO that he tried. This is a stim product, and some people are just too sensitive to stims!
It looks like this product really does live up to the hype! It’s a stim based product without the unpleasant jags and jitters. If you can’t take stims, then this is not the product for you. But for everyone else it looks like a good buy.
