Review: Catalyst (Momentum Nutrition)

In the last post I shared my thoughts on the fairly new and popular pre workout supplement called Pulse. Before that I highlighted some thoughts on Shred Jym. In this post, I will take a closer look at the new pre workout Catalyst. Here goes:

Did you know that a good pre-workout supplement can increase the intensity of your workouts at the gym considerably? If you’re looking for a boost of energy and a focused mind, pre-workout stimulants can give you a pre-training advantage – helping you to realize your body transformation goals. Here is a review of Catalyst from Momentum Nutrition – one of the most popular pre-workout supplements available today. We’ll take a closer look at the benefits of the product in this review, as well as its ingredients.

Catalyst is a pre-workout formula developed by Momentum Nutrition. The product is relatively new to the market, having been launched at the end of 2014.

Momentum Nutrition claims that Catalyst tries to bridge the gap between pre-workout supplements that provide a mental focus, and those that are “pump based”. The product contains both endurance and strength enhancing ingredients, but doesn’t contain large amounts of caffeine – a stimulant that can give you a boost of energy before you feel lethargic or anxious soon after. Let’s have a closer look at some of the ingredients contained in Catalyst.

One serving (9.96 grams) of Catalyst contains 0 calories. The product contains 3.2 grams of Beta Alanine, 2.5 grams of Betaine Anhydrous, 600 mg of beetroot extract, 250 mg of caffeine, 100 grams of L-Theanine, as well as citric acid and potassium. Here are some of those ingredients in closer detail:

Beta Alanine: This helps to increases carnosine concentration in your body, and is a powerful force when increasing endurance, strength and power in the gym.

Betaine Anhydrous: Research suggests that is ingredient can elevate your mood and focus the mind – both of which can help during a strenuous training session. The ingredient can also improve strength and power when working out.

Beetroot extract: Scientists claim that beetroot can help to increase stamina and improve blood flow.

L-Theanine: Gives your brain a “boost”, and helps you to concentrate better when at the gym. You’ll be able to focus on your training more effectively with this ingredient.

The ingredients included in Catalyst can also be often found in other pre-workout formulas and have been deemed as be safe to consume prior to training.

Catalyst comes comes in one flavor – melon. Momentum Nutrition recommend that you consumed one scoop prior to a workout at the gym. The list price of the product is $29.99 (for 30 servings), which equates to a price of approximately $1.00 per serving – making Catalyst extremely cost-effective and good value-for-money.

The product currently holds a rating of 7.7 out of 10 on, where it is currently the 67th pre-workout stimulant product in the website’s database, out of a total of 166 products. The product currently isn’t listed on

Although I haven’t consumed Catalyst from Momentum Nutrition, and I am basing my review on the ingredients found in the supplement, the product provides good value-for-money, and contains a number of ingredients that can provide you with mental focus and energy in the gym. The product doesn’t rely on any proprietary blends, and the ingredients are safe to consume.
