Syntha 6 Vs. Syntha 6 Edge from BSN – Differences in Details

Syntha 6 and Syntha 6 Edge from BSN

Not long ago I posted about the popular protein powder Syntha 6 from BSN which was about to be re-released as Syntha 6 Edge. Well now, it’s finally possibly to get Syntha 6 Edge, but how exactly is this different from the original Syntha 6?

Although the original Syntha 6 did come with a bunch of sugar, it was still a top notch protein powder in my opinion, and it was a popular choice among many BSN fans. I also listed it in the post; best tasting protein powder, simply because it has a delicious taste. You can read my review of the orignal Syntha 6 here. But before we get there, I want highlight some confusion I and others have on protein powders from BSN.

Edge, DNA, Push, and several products

If you go to GoBSN, you won’t find the Edge version. The list of protein powder supplements from GoBSN reads the following:

  • Syntha 6
  • Syntha 6 Isolate
  • Syntha 6 RTD
  • ISOBurn
  • True Mass
  • True Mass 1200
  • Whey DNA

As far as I can tell, GoBSN is the main BSN website, and you cannot find the Edge version listed there anywhere. But as you can see from the list, they have two versions of this protein powders, namely the original and an Isolate version. If you go to an American supplement marketplace site such as you also won’t be able to find Syntha 6 Edge (although it is listed in their review section, where there currently it a total of one review where it is rated 10 out of 10)

WOW! So I was always a fan of Syntha 6 because it tasted so good, but this new Syntha EDGE is insane! the macros are better, protein content as a percentage is muuch better, and it tastes EVEN BETTER! have tried most the flavours (yes, i am a bit of an addict), and gotta say, that choc pb is RIDICULOUSLY TASTY!

When I do a google search for Syntha 6 Edge, I clearly get the impression that the supplement get sold solely through non-US vendors. Now if you go to you will see Syntha 6 Edge listed right there on the front page. If you remove the /en-gb/ from the URL, you will be redirected to the above listed main page: where the supplement isn’t listed. On the UK site, you will also find Syntha 6 bars, True Mass, True Mass 1200 and Whey DNA. You cannot purchase their supplements from the site, but you can get them from for one (and several other EU vendors).

Why the Edge version isn’t being sold from US vendors is a mystery for me. Maybe someone from BSN can share some information on this?

Differences in Details

As you can see from the details above, the two protein powders are different from one another, but it’s definitely in the details. First of all, I think that, it’s nice to see carbs are going from 13 grams to 5 grams per serving. We get more protein per servings, less fat and sugar, less calories and according to that one review from, even the taste is better. This sure sounds good! But that’s not all – We also have minor changes in the protein sources. First lets see what’s common between the two:

  • Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Whey Protein Isolate
  • Calcium Caseinate
  • Micellar Casein

These four sources are listed in the protein matrix in both versions. With that being said, let’s take a closer look at what makes Syntha 6 Edge new and different from the original version. First of all, we now get a total of 24 grams of protein instead of 22 grams. Fat has been cut down from 6 grams to 3.5 grams. Carbs have gone from 13 grams to 5 grams and sugar from 3 grams to 1.5 grams. Total calories have gone from 190 to 153 per serving. Finally the serving size has gone from 47.5 grams to 37 grams. These are really good updated. In addition to this, Syntha 6 Edge also have the following in the protein matrix:

  • ]Hydrolysed Whey Protein Isolate
  • Milk Protein Concentrate
  • Emulsifier: Soy Lecithin

With these new additions to the protein matrix, Glutamine Peptides, Egg Albumin and Milk Protein Isolate have been removed. Personally I think that Syntha 6 Edge looks like a very solid protein powder with lots of slow-to-fast digesting proteins that will be the perfect post workout supplement. The supplement facts are much better than the old version, so if the taste is just as good as it was in the old version, then this is a no-brainer. Get it! For the folks in US, you might want to keep an eye out on Amazon for a jar of Syntha 6 Edge.
